Scuba Diving 2006!

The swimming pool at the Clinton Baden Community Center, 485 North Clinton Avenue, Rochester, NY, was home to the Center for Disability Rights first scuba diving class. PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) provided adaptable activities for adults with all types of disabilities. The Clinton Baden Community Center is wheelchair accessible and sign language interpreters were provided for the classes.

Participants were taught foundational knowledge and skills while diving under the supervision of PADI instructors. Students learned that they were responsible for diving within the limits of their training and experience.

The PADI Open Water Diver Course builds upon the concept of performance-based learning, allowing students to progress through the next level of the course only after they have demonstrated that they have met measurable learning objectives.
